Lee Seunggyu, who recently gained attention for his role as Ryu Junhyeong in Netflix's 'Teach You a Lesson,' has shared news of a heartwarming act of charity.
On the 18th, TV Report stated that Lee Seunggyu's agency, JG Entertainment, announced that he recently made a donation to Blue Tree Foundation (BTF), an organization that supports victims of school violence. The agency stated:
"When we heard about Lee Seunggyu's intentions, we thought it was a meaningful decision. We are sharing this news to help spread his positive influence to more people."
In Episode 1 of 'Teach You a Lesson,' Lee Seunggyu played Ryu Junhyeong, the main villain of Daehan High School. Backed by the power of his politician father, he ruled over his classmates like a king and drove one of his classmates to death. In the drama, his character is ultimately disciplined by Na Hwajin (played by Kim Muyeol) and is listed as a school violence perpetrator on the Educational Rights Protection Bureau. His performance left a strong impression on viewers.
The Blue Tree Foundation is a youth NGO that has been granted Special Consultative Status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council. It is the first organization in South Korea to raise public awareness about the seriousness of school violence. Its core mission is to prevent school violence, support victims' recovery, and promote social change.
The founder of the Blue Tree Foundation, Kim Jongki, previously appeared on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Blcok' in 2022 to share the reason why he established the organization. He said:
"My son took his own life in the first year of high school because of school violence. After that, I quit my job and devoted myself to school violence prevention activities."
He added:
"The feelings of a victim's parents cannot be described in words. It became the reason I would carry my son in my heart for the rest of my life."
