Actor Kim Muyeol revealed the hardships he faced before making it big, admitting that he once only made 200,000 KRW in an entire year.
We got a sneak peek at this story right at the end of the episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' that aired on the 24th, which dropped a preview for next week's episode featuring Kim Muyeol as their guest.
If you haven't been keeping up, Kim Muyeol is currently enjoying his career peak after reaching global success with the hit Netflix series 'Teach You a Lesson.' The show became a hot topic after ranking #1 globally for two consecutive weeks right after its release. But as it turns out, he actually spent a long time flying completely under the radar. In his rookie days, he was struggling so much that he reportedly only earned 200,000 KRW in an entire year.
During the preview, his wife, actress Yoon Seungah, made a surprise appearance to show support, saying, "We've spent such a long time together," completely melting everyone's hearts by showing her love for her husband.
To give you a quick recap on his personal life, Kim Muyeol and Yoon Seungah officially started publicly dating way back in 2012 and tied the knot in 2015. They welcomed their first son in June 2023, eight years into their marriage.
Kim Muyeol also shared how much his life has changed after years of struggling. When asked, "How good does it feel?", he joked:
"For the first time in 10 years, my neighbors told me that I look cool."
Aditionally, he also shared the backstory of getting a random shoutout from professional wrestler John Cena. When asked why John Cena noticed him, Kim Muyeol answered, "Because we look alike," to which Yoo Jaesuk immediately agreed, "You do look alike."
As for the project that's currently blowing up, 'Teach You a Lesson' follows the story of the Educational Rights Protection Bureau, an organization established to protect teachers' rights and restore order in South Korea's education system after it gets completely disrupted by unruly students, teachers, and parents. It's safe to say the intense plot is definitely hitting the right notes globally right now.
