MONSTA X's sub-unit Shownu X Hyungwon shwed off their close friendship despite their very different personalities.
On the 28th, the YouTube channel @commonthursday_official posted a video titled, "Mom, pick one of these future son-in-law candidates. Hurry up, we need to set the date for the family meeting soon." In the video, Shownu and Hyungwon, who recently made their comeback with second mini album 'LOVE,' appeared as guests and enjoyed an outdoor lamb skewer mukbang with Jo Hyunah.
On this day, Jo Hyunah expressed her surprise at the two's unexpected charm, saying, "I expected MONSTA X to be really energetic, but you two are much calmer and more laid-back than I thought," noting the difference from their powerful image on stage.
Shownu and Hyungwon explained that their personalities are total opposites even within the team. Hyungwon shared, "People whose personalities are too similar usually don't get close easily. I'm more sensitive, while Shownu Hyung is very relaxed," explaining why they get along so well. He added, "Since we already spend so much time together as a group, we don't usually meet up separately, but I actually spend most of my personal time with Shownu Hyung," showing his special affection for Shownu as both a close friend and drinking buddy.
In particular, when asked, "What would you do if you could swap bodies for 24 hours?" both answered enthusiastically. Hyungwon said, "If I had Shownu Hyung's body, I'd go for a run along beaches overseas with my shirt off," expressing his envy.
Meanwhile, Shownu responded casually, "Sometimes when I go to a sauna, older men around my father's age would look at me and say, 'You have such an amazing body,'" and added, "I think I could live as Hyungwon for about three days."
On the other hand, Shownu also shared his concern, saying, "Besides the members, I don't really have many close friends. When things become awkward during a conversation, I tend to look for the problem within myself." In response, Jo Hyunah sympathetically said, "That breaks my heart. You're such a nice person that you always think it's your fault," before joking, "I always tell my friends who are like that to blame other people sometimes. Life gets easier that way," drawing laughter.
Shownu and Hyungwon also shared funny stories about MONSTA X. While discussing fines for being late, Hyungwon joked, "I snapped out of that habit after completing my military service," making everyone laugh. He also revealed plans for the members' first self-funded overseas trip during their upcoming schedule in France. Excluding the members with individual schedules, Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, and Hyungwon plan to travel together. Hyungwon shared excitedly, "We have a few free days in our schedule, so we plan to visit a nearby resort. Everyone agreed right away, so this will be our first overseas trip together in France. We're planning to really enjoy ourselves."
Following their unit promotions, Shownu and Hyungwon are also preparing for MONSTA X’s world tour. They expressed their heartfelt gratitude to fans, saying, "Thanks to Monbebe, we were able to release another album for the first time in three years and go on tour again. We'll work hard while remembering that gratitude and do our best until the end."
