A large café in Jeju Island, which became popular for being operated by a celebrity, has sparked controversy after it was found out to be illegally using state-owned island.

KBS News on the 6th reported, "A large café in Seogwipo City that gained popularity about 3 years ago for being owned by a celebrity was found to have illegally converted approximately 6,000 square meters of forest land for commercial use."

The report stated that the area surrounding the café building included a pleasant walking trail, a large parking lot, swings, and other structures built for the convenience of visitors. Most of the plots around the main building were originally forest land.

As a result, Seogwipo City requested the police to investigate the forest damage. The café operator explained, "We realized late that it was considered illegal land conversion. We tried to fix it, but we couldn't due to our financial circumstances."

The celebrity, referred to as A, who had previously served as the co-representative of the café stated, "My contract ended in April of this year. I am no longer involved in the café's operation. When the café was initially being developed, I was only in charge of interior design. I was unaware of issues regarding the land."

Seogwipo City plans to issue an order for restoration based on the police investigation results.

I often check IMDb scores for Korean dramas, so I got curious about this drama’s rating and went to look.

The rating was surprisingly very low for a Kim Eunsook's drama, so I read the reviews. Seeing the ratings split into extremes, I looked down to the low scores and (as I expected) found viewers from a certain religion seemed to be offended? upset? Here are some examples:

-But honestly, I kinda expected this since the teaser was up. Especially since people these days are very sensitive about cultural appropriation.

-From Muslims' perspectives, they could reasonably feel offended.

-People were talking about this before the drama even aired.

-The drama really does look like it was made without much thought.

-Isn't this legitimate criticism rather than just being 'offended'?

-The drama really does look like it lacks consideration/respect for other cultures and religions.

-They certainly have every rights to feel offended...

-I knew this would happen.

-I get it, though. Can't the drama accept even this level of criticism?

-The drama is using Middle East as their background and even using religious terminology. So they have every rights to feel offended, don't they? If a Western series treated 'Grandmother Samsin' (NB: Goddess in Korean mythology) in an insulting way, I would be upset too.

-I can completely understand. Things can become sensitive once religious concepts are involved.

-There clearly was a lack of respect towards that religion, regardless of whether I personally liked the drama or not.

-Calling Muslims 'being offended' just doesn't sound right to me...

-It's not just 'being offended,' it's legitimate criticism. You calling it 'being offended' already shows that you have no respect for other cultures and religion.

-This Indonesian fan is so amazing. I love historical dramas. I wish we had games based on Sageuk as well.

-Looks like this was done by an Indonesian fan.

-Whoa... They compiled it so well. They even wrote 'Sejong the Great' perfectly.

-Must be a serious drama maniacㄷㄷ

-Whoa.. I've always been curious about thisㅋㅋㅋ

-If I watch those dramas in that order, will I become a master of the Korean history?

-Did they really watch all of those? Whoa...

-Hul.... This is exactly what I wanted. Can someone make a Korean version of this please?ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-I should use this to study history.

-What's 'Pangeran'?

ㄴ'Pangeran' << This means 'Prince' in Indonesian. Seems like this was organized by a Southeast Asian fan. Anyway, they did a really great job.

-Whoa.... This is actually very impressive.

-Whoa............ I've only watched a few of these. The OP probably know Korean historical dramas better than I do.

-The amount of effort is incredibleㄷㄷㄷ

-Whoa... I don't watch historical dramas or know Korean history that well. Now I feel like I am the foreigner here.

-She dances so well. Please film a proper cover and post it onlineㅋㅋㅋ

-That kick is so freaking cuteㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Her dance looks pretty because her arms are long.

-I want to see more of her dancing.

-I really want to see her dance moreㅋㅋㅋㅋ Please film more like thisㅠ

-Honestly, this feels like a really intense SNSD-style choreographyㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Taeyeon's vocals should apologize for overshadowing Taeyeon's dancing skills.

-Please film a challenge together~~

-Don't you think her dancing skills are somehow buried by her vocals?

-Taeyeon, you are so talented.

-She dances so well and she also looks adorable at the same time.

-Why does the kick give off 'Into the New World' vibes, Unnie?!??

-She's so freaking pretty.

-She danced gently here. She could've done even better if she went full powerㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Hul... She dances really good...

SNSD Taeyeon dances to RIIZE's 'Siren'

The reason for the backlash is because of her strategy of constantly releasing limited editions in small, time-restricted batches...

She keeps dropping new editions for only 24 hours each, so even fans don't know what's coming out next. Many says it feels like a cheap marketing strategy just to chase records.

-She's literally one of the top female solo artists... It's very annoying to see her acting like this.

-28 versions?? Then why did people criticize Kpop idols?ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Even the top female solo artist is stooping to this levelㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Taylor is taking it way too far... She even re-releases her old B-tracks in her new EPs.

-She's already insanely popular. Why is she doing this?

-Adele broke that record with just 2 versions. This is very cheap of her.

-Why did people criticize Kpop then?

-At this point, I think Kpop idols are even more generous than her. At least they have fansigns in return...ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Not to mention that her songs are not even that great. This makes her even more annoying.

-She's getting greedy.

-Honestly, I think she's overrated compared to her actual talent and music.

-This is so f*cking annoying. I freaking hate her.

-Sorry, earth.

-She might as well do video fansigns (Just joking, don't take it seriously).

-Is this Kpop or what?

-I like her, but this is too much. It makes her look cheap.

-I saw a video of her on Instagram before this. Her hairstyle and makeup didn't suit her, but you know... I guess you just can't be perfect every time.

-The outfit looks very plain. It doesn't look like Chanel at all.

-Emo Jennie...

-I don't know much about fashion, but is the pajama-style look a luxury trend this year??

-The makeup looks so freaking weird... Jennie looks beautiful, though.

-She looks so f*cking pretty. It suits her really well, though?? I think she's going with the messy girl look here.

-I personally think she looks so f*cking prettyㅋㅋㅋㅋ

-Did Chanel get a new designer this time? The whole collection looks off this time...

-Oh... This kind of style is coming back again.

-Why is she wearing a pajama?

-Huh... This can't be the best her team could do. Why did they style such a beautiful person like that...?

-The outfit's nice, but I think she would've looked way prettier if she had her usual hairstyle.

-Is pajama style trending now? Rosé wore something that looked like that too.

-I'm not a fan of this look... Give us the pretty Jennie back.

Rosé - YSL

Lisa - Louis Vuitton

Jisoo - Dior

Jennie - Chanel

-Lisa's outfit this time is insane. Honestly, Jennie's outfit made me go 'Huh??' at first, but the longer I look, the better it seems.

-None of the outfits were great.. Lisa pulled hers off the best, though.

-Lisa looked the prettiest this time.

-Lisa suited this look perfectly, from her hairstyle down to her outfits.

-They all looked strange except for Lisa.

-Lisa looks like a princess.

-I like Rosé's the best. She's so pretty.

-How did they manage to have all 4 members be ambassadors for YSL, LV, Dior, and Chanel...?

-If Jennie had just changed her hairstyle, it wouldn't have looked so much like lingerie. Or maybe that was intentional?

-They all looked strange, except for Lisa. Why did their stylists give them those outfits? Their hairstyles and makeup weren't great either.

-Jennie actually looked pretty in the video. The smokey makeup really suited her.

-Everyone except Lisa looked strange. They either look like a waiter or look like in their underwear.

-Lisa was the best dressed and Jennie was the worst dressedㅠㅠ

-Why did they make Jisoo look like that?ㅠㅠ

-Lisa totally looks like a Barbie doll.

Band name: LATENCY

Member lineup:

-LOONA's ex-member Hyunjin

-Cignature's ex-member Jiwon

-Cignature's ex-member Semi

-Cignature's ex-member Haeun

-Youtuber Fingerstylish

I'm curious to see if they will be able to take some of QWER's fandom share...

instiz

-They're all former girl group members?! I hope they do well.

-Fingerstylish?!?!?! Isn't she insanely good at guitar?!

-Hyunjin.... I hope things go well for her.

ㄴPersonally, I wonder why she didn't join ARTMS....

-I'm looking forward to their instrumentalsills.

-I think Cignature's Haeun will probably be the main vocalist. She was the vocalist in Good Day and Cignature. Anyway, I was really sad when Loossemble disbandedㅜ I'm so happy to see her againㅠㅠㅠ

-Their song has to be catchy enough to get attention from the public. I really hope they succeed.

-I feel like they're gonna have a completely different vibe from QWER. I've been wanting to see an all-girls band. If the song's good, I'll definitely listen.

-First of all, the drums are the most important in a band. I wonder how long they've been practicing? QWER was able to debut quickly because their drummer majored in music and already had a certain level of skill.

-I'm rooting for Cignatureㅜ I've been rooting for Jiwon since 'The Unit'ㅜ

-Jiwon, Hyunjin... Fighting!!

-Hul.. Hyunjin is in this bandㅠㅠ

-Wait... Did Hyunjin not re-debut??? All of LOONA's members formed new groups and re-debuted, so I naturally thought she was in one of those new groups.

ㄴHyunjin did re-debut. I think it was Loossemble? Now, she's debuting again. This time in a band. I heard she even created her own one-person agency for this... It kinda makes me feel emotional.

-I've been rooting for Hyunjin since LOONAㅠㅠㅠ

Another all-girls band is debuting, following QWER

Daesung: Hyung, you're doing so many shows. And they're all popular, too.

Kyuhyun: Honestly, there are a lot of people trying to take my spot.

Daesung: And doing that kind of shows are super chill. You just need to watch VCRs~

Kyuhyun: You think it's easy? I have to listen to 10 hours of world history lectures. We shoot two episodes at once, so it's 10 hours total. And I sit in the front row, so I absolutely can't doze off. The same with 'Han Moonchul's Dashcam Review,' I have to simulate car accidents throughout the filming!

Daesung: Then what about 'Single's Inferno'? Isn't that good?

Kyuhyun: That one's good...ㅎ

instiz

-Hmm... I feel like if he had experienced a normal job, he wouldn't say things like that. He's not even filming every day. It's just one tough day of filming and then it's over. Besides, it's not like he's getting paid minimum wage eitherㅠㅠ I understand that can be exhausting, but from a regular person's perspective, to say that is not 'easy money' is a bit... You know..

-There are staff who spend even more time editing those 10-hour video... He's not a student forced to listen to a class. He's earning money. So it doesn't sound great to hear him say that.

-But still, he keeps doing it because it's worth it, right? If it was too hard, he could just stick to concerts and albums. The professors explaining and the production team preparing the materials beforehand are definitely much more exhausted.

-Getting paid a month's salary to listen a 10-hour lecture once a week VS working 9 hours every weekday for a month.

-He's not even preparing the lecture himself. All he needs to do is just listen. How hard can that be? It's not like he has to take an exam afterward anyway.

-Not allowed to doze off through 10-hour of world history lecture does sound hard, thoughㅋㅋ

-Maybe what he meant is... Just sitting and watching itself is harder than it looks, regardless of how much money he gets...?

-Now that I hear it... That actually does sound like easy money, Mr. Cho Kyuhyun.

-But it's not like a boring school lecture... It's a high-quality one and he's getting paid to listen...

-I'm so jealous of him...

-He keeps making blunders^^;;

-It's not like he said other jobs are 'easy'...ㅋㅋ I've worked as a staff before, and trust me, that job is absolutely not easy money. You don't just sit comfortably like you do at school. You have to sit under lights, cameras are on you, and you have to constantly react. It's truly not an easy job.

-It's not like he does that every day. He does that just once in every two weeks. How is that not 'easy money'?

-The staff have it 5 times more exhausting...

-?? Ordinary people usually spend 10 hours a day to work, including commuting.

Kyuhyun: Celebrities watching VCRs is not as easy as it looks
