Two female students from Sejong Jang Youngsil High School among Jeju Air plane crash victims ... Joint memorial altar has been set up at the city hall

It has been confirmed that students from Sejong City were among the victims of the Jeju Air plane crash that occurred at Muan International Airport in Jeonnam Province.

According to Sejong City and the Sejong Office of Education on the 30th, two of the 175 passengers who died on Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 were students from Sejong Jang Youngsil High School located in Geumnam-myeon.

The two victims were sisters, sitting in the 11th and 12th grade, studying beauty and cosmetology. At the time of the accident, they were traveling with their family to celebrate their grandfather's 80th birthday.

It has been reported that, in addition to the two students, their mother, younger brother, grandparents, and aunt's family, a total of nine family members, lost their lives in the accident.

The school announced the news of the accident to the students through a broadcast and held a moment of silence.

The Sejong City Education Office held an emergency meeting that morning and decided to establish a joint memorial altar at the education office, separate from the one at City Hall. Additionally, a condolence team will be dispatched to Muan by the education office.

Sejong City will set up a joint memorial altar in the southern plaza of City Hall. The memorial altar will be open from 9AM every year during the mourning period until January 4th.

In respect to the mourning period, various events have been canceled. The city has temporarily postponed Mayor Choi Minho's 2025 Major Work Plan Briefing which was originally scheduled for 10AM today to January 6th.

Furthermore, New Year's sunrise events planned for January 1 at Sejong Lake Park and other locations across the city have been canceled. However, the 2025 New Year's tribute on January 2 will proceed as scheduled.

-Oh my goodness... What will the father do... He's all alone now...ㅠㅠㅠ

-Oh my goodness ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅜ This world is so cruel...

-Oh... Is the father the only one left??ㅠㅠㅠㅠ This is just too cruel.

-How can the father cope now that he's all alone... This is truly an unimaginable sadnessㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

-Oh my goodness... How can the world be like this...?

-It's heartbreaking that such a loving family had to suffer this tragedy.

-The father gave an interview on the first day... He said there were nearly 10 family members on the planeㅠㅠ

-I only heard in the news that a family of nine went on a trip to celebrate the grandfather's 80th birthday. But to think it was sisters, their mother, younger brother, grandparents, and aunt's family...ㅠㅠ How will the father ever cope?

-How can one even cope with this tragedy... Words cannot even express this sadness.

-ㅠㅠㅠ... I can’t even find words to say...

-There really is no God...

-How could this happen...ㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜ

-How can the world be this wayㅠㅠㅠ Even God is too cruel.

-What will the father do? Seriously, is there really a God? If there is, I’d like to curse at Him.

Despite the national mourning period declared until January 4th due to the Jeju Air plane crash, singers Sung Sikyung, Lim Youngwoon, and Lee Younghyun are proceeding with their scheduled concerts. Actor Rowoon will also hold his fan meetings as planned. They have decided to keep their promises to their fans and continue with their scheduled events.

According to a report by TenAsia on the 30th, Sung Sikyung will hold his year-end concert, 'Sung Sikyung,' at KSPO Dome on the 31st. Lee Younghyun will meet fans on the same day at COEX Auditorium with a concert titled 'For You Who Need My Songs.' Lim Youngwoong will perform four shows as part of his concert 'Lim Youngwoon's Recital' at Gocheok Sky Dome from January 2nd to 4th. Rowoon will also hold his fanmeeting, '2024 Rowoon Fanmeeting That Year, Through the Winter' at Yonsei University's Grand Hall on the 31st to interact with fans.

Since these events are taking place during a period of national mourning, it is expected that the performing artists and the audience will have a moment to mourn the victims of the recent tragedy and their families. Additionally, there is a possibility that the concert's setlist and overall tone may be adjusted.

An industry insider told TenAsia, "It would've been difficult to cancel year-end concerts as they have special meaning and planning by fans. Isn't it the duty of an artist to keep their promises to their fans?"

The insider added, "Regardless of whether concerts or events are canceled, it’s important that everyone finds their own way to express condolences during this period."

-How can they suddenly cancel everything? There are so many people whose livelihoods depend on this. It's not like it's a broadcast. They should just proceed.

-The ones who are still alive need to keep living.

-It's not easy to cancel concerts because of the penalties.

-There are so many staff members and related people involved in these events. What can they do? They'll probably proceed with heavy hearts.

-Those who canceled or postponed events must've made a very difficult decision... But events that are already scheduled need to go on. Even those in the entertainment industry need to make a living tooㅠㅜ

-I can't really blame them. There are people whose livelihoods depend on this.

-People are still going to work, after all.

-I understand those who cancel their events and those who continue holding their events.

-Like with Jaurim, they could hold a moment of silence at the beginning and end of the show.

-Yesterday, Sung Sikyung also gave a message of condolence before starting his concert.

-Just because they're having a concert doesn't mean they're not mourning. There are a lot of stakes involved, and with businesses struggling these days, I think continuing is the right call.

-Everyone’s working to make a living. Those involved in this events are no different.

-I agree with all these commentsㅠㅜ Honestly, I wish even award shows would just go onㅠㅜ

-We’re all continuing our daily lives, so it's fine as long as we don't do things like fireworks.

Park Jaehyung = Jae = Former member of DAY6 (That guy from K-Pop star)

When Seoㅇㅇ joins Park Jaehyung, they sabotage him from being the headliner, during the ㅇDaㅇ, and also from being the opener for Coldplay's concert. When will this dirty play end? I heard they're even going as far as preventing Jae from joining a new agency. Is the goal of this company is to disrupt his activities in South Korea and prevent eaJ from gaining a foothold in South Korea?

It seems like they think JYP (Studio J) is sabotaging Jae's activities in Korea...ㅋ;

Coldplay, who already excited domestic fans with news of their concert in South Korea, especially after BTS's Jin participated as a special guest at their 2022 concert in Argentina, has heightened expectations for their Korean performance. After the guest was announced, TWICE's Jeongyeon shared on a fan communication app, "It was fascinating to hear that Coldplay requested for us,"increasing anticipations about the meeting of the two groups.

The reality is that Coldplay directly requested for TWICE ㅠㅋㅋ

Currently, fabricated information is circulating on Twitter's trending, so I'm posting it here on Theqoo.

Everything they claim is not true‼️‼️

theqoo

-Is he the guy who appeared on The Unit after leaving DAY6...?

-JYP may let their artists leave their companies, but they never sabotage their activities.

-I first learned about him when he made rude comments towards Jimin, and I guess his fans have issues too.

-They’ve been attacking DAY6 with crazy comments all year, now they’re even going after TWICE...

-If JYP sabotages the activities of their former artists, would Jay Park have become so successful?ㅋㅋㅋ

-It doesn’t even have that many likes. Is this the opinion of most of his fans?

-Who is Seo OO?

-Why are they like this...? They’re really sick,,

-As someone who used to like Jae, I wonder if those fans genuinely think acting like that will help the artist...?

-The fans are making the artist being mocked...;;;;

-JYP’s influence isn’t that strong.

-I don’t think anyone actually believes this anyway... They're just posting anything to spread rumorsㅋㅋㅋ

-??? Wait, there was a member who left DAY6?

-He left because he didn’t like Korea, so why is he still doing activities in Korea?ㅋㅋ

-I didn’t even know DAY6 had a member who left. Who is it?

Park Jaehyung's fans claim that JYP made TWICE replaced him as a guest for Coldplay's concert in South Korea (Which is of course, not true‼️)

Aespa's Supernova

Rosé & Bruno Mars' APT

theqoo

-APT. It's especially loved by kids.

-Even adults know APT.

-Honestly, I felt the impact of both songs so much that I can't choose. It's like Supernova in the summer and APT in the winter.

-If I had to choose between the two, it would be APT.

-In our country, Supernova is very impactful. But APT is more globally impactful.

-I only know the 'Su-su-su-supernova' part in Supernova because I often hear it at my workplace. While for APT, I've listened to the full version so it sounds more familiar to me. So for me, it's APT.

-Definitely APT. As soon as it was released, the Ahjussi in my workplace were all singing along, saying it was a strange song.

-But why do I have to pick just one? I felt the impact of both.

-Even preschool kids know APT.

-Bam Yang Gang and APT. I still don't know which song Supernova is.

-My mom keeps humming APT while she does her makeup.

-I think Bam Yang Gang, Supernova, and APT are the top 3. Among those, APT is on a whole different level.

-APT... I was so surprised when I found out that even my 80-year-old grandfather knows that song.

-I personally like Supernova, but APT has bigger impact globally.

-Supernova is popular among people in the 10s to 30s, but APTseems to be known by all generations.

Which song released in 2024 had the biggest impact?

Hello.
We are informing you that the 2024 MBC Entertainment Awards, which was scheduled for today, has been canceled.
We kindly ask for the understanding of fans who were schedules to attend the fan section and we will provide further details based on the future event schedule.
Thank you.

Announcement from Hyeri's agency, who was scheduled to be the MC of the awards today.

Earlier, there was an article saying that they might record the show privately today, but it seems like they've decided to cancel it entirely.

theqoo

-Celebrities are human too... How can they laugh, present, and accept awards in that situation...

-This is the right call. They won't even be able to give proper acceptance speeches, and even if they record it later, people will definitely criticize them for laughing after the tragedy. Canceling all year-end award ceremonies would be the right decision.

-This is the right choice.

-This is also a painful situation for the celebrities who attend the award ceremony.

-I think it's better not to do it at allㅠㅠ

-MBC made a good decision. It may seem like an obvious decision for the outsiders, but from the company's perspective, it's a huge loss. I think it was the right thing to do.

-It's not even been a few days, it's the same day as the incident. They made a good decision.

-Honestly, I think this is the hardest on the celebrities who were supposed to attend...

-It's an awards ceremony, so they can't laugh, but also can't not laugh either... It's difficult either way.

-Honestly, there must have been celebrities who didn’t want to go anyway.

-Well done. How could they smile and enjoy themselves in that situation? Everyone must have felt uncomfortable.

-Canceling the show is the right decision.

-Not only for their image, but celebrities are also citizens of this country... I don't think anyone would want to go.

-Exactly, this is not the right atmosphere for an awards ceremony right now.

MBC Entertainment Awards, which were scheduled to be recorded privately, seem to have been completely canceled.

Jeju Air executives arrived at the scene 11 hours after the Jeju Air flight crash at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do, causing family members of the victims to express their anger.

CEO of Jeju Air Kim Yibae, Vice Chairman of Aekyung Group Go Joon, CEO of AK Holdings, and other executives from Jeju Air and its parent company, AK Group, arrived ta Muan Airport around 8 PM on the 29th to offer their condolences to the families and promised full support in the future.

In response, the family members criticized the executives for arriving so late, expressing frustration. Park Hanshin, the temporary representative of the victims' families, confronted CEO Kim and the vice chairman, saying "We have been looking for Jeju Air officials for hours, but no one showed up. He added, "In a world where one can reach anywhere in the country within three to four hours, why are you only showing up 11 hours later? What are you trying to do?" He continued, "This is a situation where you should have come earlier to sincerely apologize. I don’t understand why it took so long. Would they be this late if the victims were your own families?"

CEO Kim explained, "We were late because we were organizing an initial response team to support the government investigation and holding briefings in Seoul." He continued, "We are sending 260 support personnel to Muan to assist the families. We will support all procedures, including funeral arrangements." Head of Jeju Air's Planning Division, Lee Jungseok, added, "We arrived early to set up an on-site response headquarters nad handle the accident site. We will take responsibility for the requests made by the families and offer our full support."

The families also criticized Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Park Sangwoo, and Governor of Jeollanam-do Kim Youngrok who visited the site. Minister Park stated at 7:30 PM on the same day, "The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is holds the biggest responsibility for this accident. We will not avoid our responsibility and will swiftly investigate the cause of the incident."

However, the families were frustrated with the response they received, as they were only told that identification of the victims was still ongoing. Family member A said, "We have been requesting all day for a situation room to be set up so that we can ask questions, but nothing has been set up. Even when they hold briefings, they keep giving the same answer that they are still verifying identities. It's so frustrating."

Meanwhile, Jeju Air Flight 7C2216, which departed from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand, crashed at Muan Airport at 9:03 AM. The landing gear failed to deploy, and the plane attempted a belly landing but was unable to slow down, crashing into airport structures. Of the 181 people aboard (6 crew members), 179 were confirmed dead. Two crew members were rescued and transported to a hospital in Seoul. As of 8:38 PM that day, the identities of 65 victims had been identified.

theqoo

-Whoa... That's so late? Did they go on foot or what?

-What were they doing that it took them 11 hours to show up?

-Seriously, would you show up 11 hours later if the victims were your family?

-Are they crazy? This is not America. Our country is small. Why did it take them 11 hours to show up?

-11 hours is crazy, isn't it? It seems like they didn't want to come in the first place.

-These disgusting people must've been racking their brains trying to avoid responsibility for 11 hours.

-?? Is this real? You should’ve rushed over as soon as the accident happened.

-I’m never flying Jeju Air again.

-I don’t know about others, but the airline CEO should’ve rushed immediately. What were they doing coming so late? Are they only there for a photo op now?

-You can get anywhere in the country in just 4 hours, though...

-Seriously, are they even human? The accident happened at 9 AM, and they only showed up after sunset?

-I can't believe they only showed up 11 hours after the accident... It takes even less time to fly from Bangkok to Seoul...

-They should've been the first to arrive.

-You idiots, are you even human?

"Why just now?" ... Family members express outrage as Jeju Air executives arrive late at the scene

On the 29th, the government announced a 7-day national mourning period following the Jeju Air passenger plane crash that occurred at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province. The mourning period will begin on the day of the incident and last until January 4 of the coming year.

Joint memorial altars will be set up at the crash site in Muan Airport, and in 17 cities and provinces including Jeonnam, Gwangju, Seoul, and Sejong. Public institutions will fly flags at half-mast, and government officials will wear black armbands as a sign of mourning.

Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister for Economy and Minister of Economy and Finance, Choi Sangmok, stated during a meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, "The government has decided to designate the next seven days, from today to January 4 at 24:00, as a national mourning period. We will set up memorial altars at the Muan Airport accident site and in 17 cities and provinces to express condolences and mourn the victims."

theqoo

-Why are they emphasizing it? What's the point of setting a period to mourn? It's a pain that will be remembered for a lifetime.

-I'll mourn however I want. Why are you deciding and acting all high and mighty? And does this government even function right now?

-It sounds like they're saying they won't make any appointments until the mourning period is over.

-They're trying to silence people again like they did after the Itaewon tragedyㅋㅋ

-Mourning is something you do on your own, why force it? It's obvious they're trying to silence us.

-Why put a time frame on mourning? Are they using this to silence the people and slack off during this period?

-Mourning is mourning, just do your job and don't mess around.

-We're in a state of no government. Who are you?

-I'll mourn however I want, so stop with this nonsense about a mourning period.

-Don't try to take advantage of this tragedy. It's disgusting.

-Just go to jail already.

-Why do this? People will mourn on their own, is this a dictatorship? Why are you setting a time limit?

-Do you think we're stupid?

-Even if you tell us not to mourn, we will still mourn. So stop playing president and just sign the papers, you bastard.

-You still need to work. How dare you use this as an excuse to slack off?

Government declares 7-day national mourning period until 24:00 on January 4th

A Thai woman in her 20s, who was aboard the Jeju Air flight that crashed while landing at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province, was on her way to visit her mother, who was living in Korea after getting married, when the tragedy occurred. I'm tearing up... The authorities are identifying the victims through fingerprints, but since she's a foreigner, it might take a while...

-F*ck... It's people like Yoon Sukyeol and Kim Geonhee who should face such tragedy like this. Why do innocent people like them have to go through this?ㅠㅠ

-I wonder if her husband's job is something like a fisherman who goes out to sea for days at a time?ㅠㅠ

-The reality is too cruel...

-The world is so harsh...

-My heart is truly broken... ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ May they all rest in peace.

-I mean... This is so unfairㅠㅠ How could this happen?ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
